Bumblebee
“This story starts it all off for our youngest humans, on their way to become nature literate.” – Ruud Kleinpaste (The Bug Man)
When Bumblebee awakens from her long winter sleep she cannot find any flowers for food. Who will save Bumblebee? A child of course.
A sweet, relevant story invoking conversations with children about the wonder and importance of bees. Perfect for inspiring our little people to take care of our little creatures & the world around us.
This beautifully rhyming story is a delight to the eyes and to the ears. The messages are factual and important. In Bumblebee Rachel introduces the concept of pollination in a deceptively simple way as we follow Bumblebee through the seasons of her remarkable year.
Aimed for readers 1-5yrs Bumblebee complements, Rachel Weston’s best- seller, Bumblebees Have Smelly Feet.
“For the sake of humanity and the life-forms we live with on Earth, we need to rediscover the Operations Manual of our Planet and that means getting acquainted with our natural world as early as possible in life. Insects do brilliant jobs and they are involved in so many eco-systems, showing that, in Nature, everything is connected. This story starts it all off for your youngest humans, on their way to become nature literate.” – Ruud Kleinpaste

I’ve been lucky enough to see an early print of this book and it’s my new Rachel Weston favourite. It’s got it all; the rhythmic verse, a great message, gorgeous illustrations and the spot on portrayal of the wonder of childhood. Rachel has again beautifully captured the childish joy in discovering new things.

I’ve just received my book it looks absolutely magical, thank you so much. I now can’t wait to go to Auckland and give it to my grandson.

Your book is absolutely gorgeous – so engaging and educational. Young children are so open and curious about how the natural world works and the role everything has to play. Books such as yours that are written to develop children’s understanding about the bigger picture and what they can do to make a difference are just so valuable.

I got this for my 3 year old for Christmas and he has requested it every night, he loves it. I asked him what his favourite part was and he said ‘I like when the bee wakes up and there’s no garden but then it finds a new garden’. It’s such a sweet book and beautifully illustrated too.

I want to tell you how incredibly wonderful your new Bumblebee book is. My 4yo son has requested it every. single. night for about a month now, and we are still spotting new little critters and flowers amongst the illustrations. I just adore the story and the message, and we’ve learned so much too!

One of our favourite books! A granddaughter even used the sugar and water to help a bee. And the 3 year olds think it’s Nanny in the drawing. Love it 💛

Rachel’s delightful collection of books has made the gift shopping for littlies a pleasure! The only difficult decision being “which one “ ?!
My favourite “Bumblebee ‘ is pure joy to read aloud .It explains the facts of pollination so the very young can grasp it. The illustrations are just beautiful and my 4 year old grandson particularly loved the pages with the earth moving machines – of course !!
Close second though ,for me , as a dog lover , is the hilarious “Boo Goes Tutti Frutti .” . we can all identify with the doggy antics here. A very funny book !

My daughter (two and a half) loves Bumblebee! We read it together most nights and she sings along with the flower’s song. I always hoped to instil a love of reading in my children but until we were given Bumblebee, she was more interested in ripping books or eating them. Now she gets transported by the story and it brings me so much joy to see her developing such a crucial skill. Thank you for your part in her reading journey!!
